Web Scanner

Scan any web page for images and import them directly into Derivv Pro for processing.

Overview

The Web Scanner lets you pull images from any web page directly into the app. Instead of manually downloading images from websites and then adding them to Derivv Pro, you can scan a page and pick the images you want in one step.

This feature requires the Derivv browser extension for Chrome, which communicates with the desktop app to send scanned images.

Getting started

To use the Web Scanner you need two things:

  1. The Derivv Pro desktop app (you already have this)
  2. The Derivv browser extension for Chrome

Install the Derivv Pro Web Scanner extension from the Chrome Web Store. Once installed, the extension icon will appear in your browser toolbar. No additional configuration is needed -- the extension automatically communicates with the desktop app.

Scanning a web page

There are two ways to start a scan:

  1. From the desktop app -- Click the scanner icon next to the "Add Images" button, or press ⌘⇧W on Mac / Ctrl+Shift+W on Windows. This opens the scanner dialog where you can enter a URL.
  2. From the browser extension -- Navigate to any web page in Chrome and click the Derivv extension icon. The extension will scan the page and send the results to the desktop app.

When scanning from the desktop app, you can enter any URL in the scanner dialog. The extension will navigate to that page, wait for it to load, and scan all visible images.

Filtering and selecting images

After a scan completes, the scanner dialog shows all discovered images in a grid. Each image displays its dimensions and file size. You can:

  • Filter by file size -- Use the size filter to hide small icons and thumbnails and focus on the images you actually want.
  • Filter by file type -- Filter by image format (JPEG, PNG, WebP, etc.) to find specific types.
  • Select individual images -- Click on images to select or deselect them.
  • Select all / Deselect all -- Use the bulk selection controls at the top of the dialog.

Importing images

Once you've selected the images you want, click Import to add them to the app. The selected images are downloaded and added as original images, just like if you had added them from your filesystem. They will be immediately processed using your current output preset.

If you already have a preset configured with dimensions, the imported images will be processed into derivatives right away. If you import into an empty workspace, you can configure your preset afterward and then process.
